Whitfield, Charles

Private Charles William Whitfield; 9043, 54681 16th R.W.F.

His Flintshire Record of Service, completed during 1919, states that he was still in hospital. On the rear of the card, his address given was 2 Div E4 Hut, Military Convalescent Camp, Ashton in Makerfield, Lancs.

Charles was born 12th January 1897 in Hanmer, to parents John & Margaret Whitfield. He attended the local school.

He married Frances Alice MacDonald, March 1936 and in 1939 they are living at Horseman’s Green with his wife’s inferred father & brother. Charles’ occupation is a Forrester.

Charles died 28th October 1974 (‘of The Holding, Horseman’s Green’) and is buried in Hanmer churchyard with his wife.
