Unit amalgamated 4 March 1917 as the 25th (Montgomery and Welsh Horse) Battn., Royal Welsh Fusiliers, and he was renumbered no. 355007. Commissioned on 22 February 1918 as 2nd Lieut., 5th Reserve Regiment of Cavalry.
His Flintshire Record of Service states: Sergeant 1914 Sergeant Major 1915, Received his commission March 1918; Served in Palestine for 18 months. Fought in the Battle of Gaza.
He was demobilised March 1919 and claimed his medals 1st June 1925, address Tybroughton, Whitchurch
