Albert was born 1898 in Iscoyd
He was one of 8 children and 3 of his brothers also served their country in WW1.
1901 aged 3, with parents & siblings Whitewell Lane, Iscoyd
1911 schoolboy, with parents & siblings at Drury Lane, Tybroughton.
Some of his service records have survived and are available on Ancestry.
He enlisted on the 22.05.1916 aged 18 years 7 months at the time he was working as a cowman.
He was mobilised on the 11th June.1917 and embarked from Devonport on the 22nd September 1917 disembarking in Alexandria on the 8th November 1917.

Bertie was killed in action on the 27th December 1917 aged 19 in Palestine.
He is remembered on Jerusalem Memorial Panels 30 to 32, on the Hanmer war memorial and in the bus shelter on the Whitchurch Road at Eglwys Cross.
