Roger was born January 8th 1889 to parents George Henry Blantern and Etty Mary (nee Jones). Baptised in Malpas 6th February.

In the 1901 census he is living at Old Hall Willington with his grandparents, sister and widowed mother.  He is at the same address in 1911, but is now helping his Uncle William Jones on the farm.

He married Clara Burdis in 1918 (Sept qtr, Auckland, Durham) and in 1939 they are at Bank House, Hanmer  – Roger’s occupation is recorded as a Farmer.

He applied for his medals in February 1930, address given as Ddol Farm, St Martins.  Kelly’s Trade Directory of 1934, also records him at this address.

Probate details on Ancestry state his death date as 16 Jun 1965 and his address as The Beeches, Hope Road, Higher  Kinnerton.  He left £7040 to his widow, Clara.
