Private Samuel Large; 32552 14th Royal Warwicks


Many of his service records have survived and are available to view on Ancestry.
His Flintshire Record of Service also states that he was wounded at Ypres on October 26th 1917 and was in hospital until February 1918. He was then discharged as no longer physically fit for war service.
Samuel was born 30th August 1896 in Willington to parents Joseph & Emily Large. He was baptised in Hanmer church 4th October 1896 and attended Hanmer school.

He married Sarah Jane Jamieson Dec qtr 1921, West Derby district. Note: When he acknowledged receipt of his medals, his address was given as 66 Benlidi Street, Scotland Road, Liverpool . In the 1939 census, they are still in the Liverpool area, Samuel’s occupation is difficult to read, possibly Coal Dealer.
His obituary states that after his retirement, he moved to Whitchurch where he became a member of Whitchurch Homing Society.

He died November 18th 1973.
Note: Samuel was a cousin to William & Percy Large
